Peter Averi - organ and piano

Peter has been closely associated with the Chorale since 1992, when he played the organ in performances of Handel's Messiah at El Rancho, Waikanae and Otaki. Since then he has been accompanist and soloist in most of the Chorale's concerts. The choir has presented an impressive range of major choral works, many of them scored for orchestral accompaniment which Peter has adapted for the organ.

He has also enjoyed accompanying the considerable number of large-scale cathedral anthems of Handel, Parry, Stanford etc. which have been performed.

2008 was another busy year for Peter with concerts in Kapiti and the Wairarapa, in addition to a period as acting-organist at Wellington Cathedral. He also continues as Music Director of TVNZ's Praise Be programme.

Peter was awarded the ONZM in 1997 for services to music.
